The Hornets from Twin Cities suburban Edina Minnesota are undeniably THE pre-eminent states power house of hockey that has seen the Hornets hang more Championship Tournament banners than any other program in State H.S. history.  The hornets sting began at the 1969 Tournament with the 1st State Championship - 11 others would follow.  The "team that everyone loves to hate" - that began with history laden bench boss/Eveleth native Willard Ikola tutelage, and continues on today with former Minnesota North Star D-man Curt Giles.
